Peter G. Bissett is an associate of the firm. He focuses his practice on all aspects of family law. Prior to joining Carlo J. Martina, P.C., Peter was a Staff Attorney at Lakeshore Legal Aid. During that time, he was the sole family law attorney in Macomb County providing full-time, pro bono representation to indigent members of the community, many of whom were victims of domestic violence. His practice focused on divorce, custody, and parenting time proceedings. This position allowed Peter to develop experience in high-conflict family law cases and to build on his significant prior litigation experience acquired representing clients in complex commercial and medical malpractice cases.

Peter has been appointed to the Board of the Macomb Community Domestic Violence Council and is the Prevention Task Force Chair. He is a member of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Lawyers Committee for both the Michigan and Metro Detroit chapters. He was a committee member and assisted in the drafting of the State Court Administrator’s Office Domestic Violence Protocols for Mediation. In addition to being a member of the State Bar of Michigan Family Law Section, Peter is also a member of the Oakland County Bar Association, the Macomb County Bar Association, and the Wayne County Family Law Bar Association. Peter is also an active participant in the Michigan Poverty Law Program’s Family Task Force.

Peter attended Wayne State University Law School, where he worked at the Free Legal Aid Clinic representing indigent Wayne County residents in family law cases. While at Wayne State, Peter was selected to the nationally-ranked Moot Court team. He participated in several national tournaments, including the National Championship Competition, where his team placed in the top 18 teams in the U.S. Prior to attending law school, Peter majored in English Language and Literature at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, where he graduated with Distinction.
